PIMPERNEL Anagallis alternifolia

The tiny pale pink pimpernel with its star shaped flowers can form carpets of pink during the Falklands summer. Low growing, reaching only 2 cm high, this branching perrenial plant is common on moist sandy areas, dwarf shrub heath and marshy grassland. Native and widespread. Abundant on East and West Falklands and also present on South America in Fuegia, west Patagonia and Andean Patagonia.
